Hi friends,

after checking all the functions of my Comfort Control of my 1964 Fleetwood, everything is working as it should. The control of the temperature is working really well, except one thing...

When the car is in idle on a traffic light or driving very slowly, the voltage of the alternator drops about 1.5 volts and the transducer does its job correctly and is switching to warm. On a hot summer day this is not very funny. I always have to shut off the A/C. If I raise the idle a little bit, the voltage regulator raises the voltage from the alternator again and it's switching to temperature, set before. This is the normal behavior, isn't it?
What I currently still couldn't find out if anyone else has the same issue. Shouldn't be there are voltage regulator in front or in the Comfort Control Amplifier to make sure you always have the same voltage?

Or probably the original voltage regulators always charged the battery when the engine was running? Don't think so, right?

I now will put in an additional 12V, 20A voltage regulator directly in front of the amplifier to make sure the voltage never drops and will always be stable at exactly 12 volts.

I'll keep you up to date.

Mr. Doerk,

Your question is beyond my level of expertise and I am not near my manual.  I write only to suggest or ask if the hot idle compensator for your carburetor is functioning?  I believe it should raise the idle speed when the car is at a stop so as to avoid this type of issue.  Vacuum leaks are also perennial candidates for causing similar issues and there’s no shortage of areas in which they can occur.

Wish I had more insight to offer but hope this helps to either to fix the problem or eliminate a one or two possibilities.

Chris

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
