Hi everyone

im currently restoring my my front grill due to some previous clown painting it with silver frost paint and doing a dodgy job

I would like to know what parts of the grill are anodised.it appears to me that the thicker bars are anodised but not the thin ones is this the case?

due to being in Australia I can’t just find anything locally to use as a reference somebody’s help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Phil,

Thanks to your posting a few days ago about the anodized grill, I decided to purchase AL New Anodized Aluminum Cleaner from Amazon.  I intend to use a mild scouring pad and saturate the pad with the liquid cleaner.  We are original owners of our 64 Caddy, and the grill needs cleaning (white spots).  I am not sure if it is all adonized but will try a piece at a time.  Your grill might be tougher, as you first have to get that silver paint off- OMG - they blew it!  I am trying the cleaner tomorrow morning and hope it cleans it up.  Thank you for bringing this up on our chapter website.

Hi Dennis

Thanks for the reply I have managed to completely disassemble the front grill and slowly remove the unwanted paint with 0000 steel wool and turpentine and a lot of elbow grease it’s going to be a of a slow process but I won’t let it beat me

the end result is going to be worth it

regards Phil

Hi Phil,

That is truly amazing work to take apart the entire grill!!!!!  To take off all that paint is a huge job.  It looks great so far.  This morning I used that Amazon product, the Al New adonized aluminum cleaner, and it worked pretty well.  A couple of white stained spots still remain, but it is a big improvement.  The car was dormant for 30 years and time got to it.  Love to see your grill when it is all done!!!!

Hi Dennis

i will keep you posted on the progress of the grill

unfortunately I am unable to purchase that anodised cleaner, Amazon won’t send it to Australia,I will have see if there’s a local product that is available

regards

Phil

Hi Phil,

The cleaner worked pretty well.  I'm sure you can get something similar in Australia.  Your grill looks great already - even being apart!  Love to see the finished product!  Great work.

Hi Dennis

I’ve finished removing the paint off the upper half of the grill what a task.just about to tackle the lower half

Phil,

This is really some job you are doing.  Don't know if I would have the mettle to tackle this job.  Maybe you can fly to NY and do mine!!!!!!  Thanks for the update.  It looks new.

Hi Members,

Just some information on what I used to clean the grill on my 64 Series 62.  From Amazon, I used AL NEW Anodized Aluminum Cleaner (16 oz.)., 6 piece hole cleaning brushes bore nylon bristles for the drill, and AUTOSOL Metal Polish to finish the job.  It removed a lot of old stains and looks much better.

Hi Dennis
I’ve been using Autosol for years it is a fantastic product glad to see you have discovered it

i have finally finished removing the silver frost paint now it’s on to the polishing with the Autosol

Hi Phil,

Marty Smith from Utah told me of this product and it is the last step in the cleaning process.  It is coming in the mail very soon to enhance the initial cleaning.  Your grill looks amazing and you did a lot of great work!

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
