Based off my VIN, my Cadillac just turned 61 years old. Took it out for a nice cruise around southern Maryland.

It is crazy but when I brought my Coupe de Ville home in the fall of 1996 it was just 32 years old, going on 33 ....  might call it a middle aged car at that point.  You could find parts cars here and there, parked behind houses, in woods, or the occasional daily driver parked out front.
Now like me it is 60ish and ... and we will still call ourselves middle aged, right?... RIGHT!

Happy birthday!

Haha well that's on me. I had popped the date in my calendar not even thinking about it being built the year before. You can tell I don't purchase brand new vehicles. Very happy this old Cadillac is still putting along 61 years later and is somehow still more reliable than my other newer car.

That is a fantastic fall picture! We really need to do a full cover newsletter on your car next year.

As far as the cars birthday, Cadillac would have been well into the 1965 model year production this time in Nov 1964. Production usually runs form Sept to July with retooling in August.

If you look at your body plate on top of firewall, you will have 2 digits, denoting the month, followed by a letter denoting the week of month.
For example 11B on a 1964 Cadillac would denote 2nd week in November of 1963, 11C would denote 3rd week, etc. I am guessing you are seeing 11B or 11C and thinking this was 1964, but is actually 1963.

Speaking of the 1964 Cadillac production, here is the last one to roll off the assembly line, #156,959 on July 8, 1964:

I’m struggling with my TV rod adjustment. I’ve been trying to adjust it as per shop manual, but it’s still not OK. When cold, it shifts smoothly through all four gears, when hot, it hesitates (lots…Continue

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
