Clock Operation - Chattering contacts points

Trying to work on the clock out of my 64.  When I put a charge to it, the contact points chatter back and forth, sounding like a doorbell buzzer.  I don't see the gears moving and the points never snap back.  Has anyone experienced this?  Ted

Thanks Russ.  It hit it with some lube but no luck yet.  With charge on the clock it does not appear that there is enough charge to push the contact back.  They stay together and just chatter.  I am baffled!

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
