Hi guys,I purchased what I thought was a complete exhaust system from Classic Exhaust 3 or 4 years ago and put it in the garage without opening the box when it arrived and just now getting to it and found that there is no resonator. My question is what is the purpose of the resonator and do I really need it.

Here is a pretty good write-up I found on resonators: http://www.ehow.com/about_5765675_exhaust-resonator_.html

If looking to stay with the factory look, the original was about 21" long and 5" wide (5 1/2" at the ribbed ends).  To have one depends on what you are after: super quiet factory sound, factory exhaust, or to be able to hear the exhaust ranging from low rumble without a resonator to a throaty to load sound with say only Flowmasters mufflers.

Jim, I have a brand new resonator for the 64' email me at hdp10@yahoo.com for pics and price, I also have everything up to the Y pipe, except for the muffler, if anyone is looking for exhaust pipes

I found the invoice and it just says complete exhaust system and the price I paid.I guess that's what I get for not checking right away.If anyone has a good one lying around let me know. Thanks

They take the rumble out of the exhaust sound and makes it run more quiet. My exhaust from them came with the resonator but believe you could get the system without it. Hopefully you have an invoice or some type of receipt that you can confirm it was not supposed to include the resonator.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
