Rick, these engines are high compression, unless it was shipped overseas as a low compression engine. The engine VIN stamp will have a special character in it.

Hi Rick,
If your present intake manifold is slightly cracked/leaking, the replacement manifold you buy will probably have an internal choke tube (about 10 inches long) that is clogged/corroded. Ask about that internal choke tube. Removing the clogged tube can be difficult - don't want to crack the used manifold you buy. That tube controls the heat flow to the automatic choke and critical for the choke to open properly. Just trying to help with your purchase.

I’m not a mechanic and I am learning about this compression stuff and all that. After over two years, I finally got my 63 Cadillac back.
The carburetor needs some adjusting stalled at light coming home running rough at low idle and the mechanic is not quite getting it and admits. it’s not his field of expertise
as far as the compression they cannot get it above 15 putting a tester on the intake manifold. Victory engines who did the final assembly believe these were a low compression engine, and that a booster would likely be needed if the brake pedal was to be improved much. After installing and running the booster he discovered the manifold was leaking so now I am looking for a replacement manifold, I just seem to be able to find complete assembly at 400 bucks
The choke tube is not associated with intake vacuum. If it is, there is a crack in the intake allowing that to happen. The choke tube runs through the exh passage so the fresh air being drawn in is heated for the choke assembly.
Hi Wayne. Rick Yasenchack here. In your picture "vacuum lines B4, the copper line going into intake manifold-did this just side into mainfold without any fitting?
I'm thinking this is a source of low compression to the brake booser

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up.
