New tires with proper 1" white wall turning brown...Looking at a new vendor Diamond Back Tires!!

Fellow members,

I'm on my second set of tires that the white walls have turned brown and nothing will clean them up.  Researching it seems its due to the process the overseas manufacturers use.  What I'm trying to find out is if anyone has used Diamond Back Tires?  I spoke with them and they state they have a custom process and guarantee they won't turn brown, yellow, etc.  I initially called about a traditional radial tire with the proper 1" white wall but while on the phone I found out they have a custom made bias ply that is a radial.  They sent pictures and I would swear they match my original spare in the trunk.  The guy on the phone said you would be hard pressed to tell the difference...cool thing is they also include the old style tire size of 8.20/r15 thus bringing one more piece of original back to the car.  I know Jason has the true bias plys and swears by them but I wanted to see what the members think or have had any experience with the company.  Price is no worse than Coker Tire and the choices they offer.  I'm reluctant to go back to Coker as I had nothing but problems with the American Classic Brand and there are fellow car folks here in town that have ongoing issues with Coker and the tires on their cars.

Let me know your thoughts and thank you in advance...

Kevin

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
