I was thumbing thru parts car folders and run across the 63 Eldorado I parted out way back in 2006 and saw the dirty but good condition body tag. I like to clean them up I guess as a token and of course to check out the details listed.
This body tag tells me:
02D - Built 4th week (D) in February (02) 1963
1385 - 1385th Eldorado (of 1825) built
Trim 19 - Red Interior
Paint 92 - Fire Frost Silver
ACCessories: E- Soft Ray Tint; S - Power Trunk; M - Power Door Locks, K - AC
Now...WHY WOULD I PART OUT AN ELDORADO:
- Most of interior missing, gutted
- primer body needing a lot of work
- top needed to be replaced
- Engine was rebuilt but non-matching VIN
- THE BIGGIE! NO TITLE: I went to NC DMV and they said I would have to jump thru some major hoops including getting an inspector do "VIN Rub", run a check on it, and I would have to carry indemnity bond insurance for I think 2 years .... maybe it was 3?!
By 2001 I was also downsizing my fleet of driver Cadillacs trying to get down to the one. I probably still had 3 or 4 licensed drivers at this time.
The good thing about this car was it had a rebuilt engine and transmission. The guy I bought it from had spent a lot of up front money to have them rebuilt, and was going to move on to body, paint and interior but that thing called a "Divorce" happened and he had to liquidate... Fast!
So for me it was an opportunity to pick up the rebuilt engine and transmission to help someone else restore their Cadillac, and I end up with a LOT of extra parts to sell and use!
This is an abbreviated version of the story but thought I would share here. Most of my parts cars have a unique story... and this Eldorado was no exception.
Here is a picture of the body tag and a picture after just pulling it home.

Marshall, Keep in mind this parts car was 24 years ago and it and 99% of the parts have been long gone. I am replying to your email right now. Jason.

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
