The 65 Porsche ( and all others ) are hand made cars— with only several thousand made in 65  and little known by the masses then  - and we owned two of them

Restored today the 65 sells  for 100,000 to 150,0000 dollars  and they were 6,000 dollars in there day ( that was  new Cadillac money in those days )

The race track car you drive on the street

Porsche and total performance are one in the same

The 55 speedster is still to this day a class champion winner in its class

That is truly the car I regret ever selling —but the lack of original replacement part being unavailable back then had a lot to do with that as the original engine in the car was one of the better ones I had the true pleasure of owning

You would drive the car around town turning  3,000 to 6,000 RPMs all day long —keeping it in any given gear you desired only shifting out into 4th gear if ever needed  to on highways with the engine screening behind you with the top up or down

The car would be drifting on all 4 wheels and would go exactly where you pointed it ( into the apex of a given corner ) while felling the center of gravity under you butt ( total control )

The best race coarse performance  and on the streets you lived on —-daily !

My very favorite car of all time for that purpose

I am smiling a lot rethinking about those days and the many corners we turn into a straight line

My white  65 Porsche  and my Dads was the same  year but Red

Had the car for 10 years and 3 engines on different performance levels

Told me it was the best sports car he  had ever owned and he had —-5  XK 140 open cab  Jaguars ( fastest stock sport car on the road then ) during the 50’s which he drove in 20- 30 degree weather with the half Torno cover on  the open cab with the heat on

I would hear him coming  home  from blocks away  as he had two glass pack muffler installed in the all his  Jags

He looked just like Errol Flin in the movie Captin Blood ( a famous Hollywood movie about pirates ) which you might be to young to know

Errol was a major Hollywood star and  heart throb play boy in his day

Dad was a hard act to follow and  just Loved that man to death

Thanks for reminding me of these amazing times  in my life

They do make me smile a lot

1963 Eldorado convertible boot

Posted by Les Eastling on February 27, 2020 at 10:33am 1 Comment

I need a used convertible boot for a 63 Cadillac convertible - condition or color is not an issue since it will be used as a pattern for making a new one. One from either a 62 series convertible or an Eldorado would work. I know I am searching for hen's teeth here... but you never know unless you ask!
