429 Engine Rebuild Question.

I have a ‘64 Series 62 Coupe. I’m going to rebuild the factory 429. Has anyone used a company where you ship your engine for the rebuild? I first checked a few local machine shops and there is a pretty significant difference in price between local shops and the one I found online where would ship the engine. The locals are approximately 50% higher in cost. I be interested to hear my fellow Chapter members thoughts and experiences.

Engine Rebuild or Remanufactured

I have working with my ‘64 Series 62 Coupe I bought last summer. It’s a barn/desert find thatHasn’t been started in 18 years. I’ve been dealing with sheering off water pump bolts (3) with 2 being through bolts to the block. The more I’ve dealt with drilling them out the more I’m coming to the realization the engine probably should be rebuilt. There’s a lot of dissolved aluminum and corrosion gumming up the water flow area just in the engine cover from age and time. I had a engine builder but he…See More
