It varies state by state but at some point, most states went to keeping the same license plate # and getting a small stick that is placed on the plate when the plate was renewed. In NC we have two stickers one with month and one with date. For example on my personalized ELVIS plate I run on my Escalade I have had it for quite a few years now and change out the year sticker in upper right once a year as it is renewed.
Also, if you let your license plate registration lapses most state will issue a new license plate # with new stickers.
@ robert..........it is indeed Oklahoma. I found today a window inspection sticker that would expire in 1986. so it must be issued in 1985.
Cees, there may be a method to get info from Okla. DMV,but my experience with an issue like this has been you have be law enforcement to get that info.Oklahoma has some really messed up laws and policies,IMO.
@ robert...........do you think there is a change to find out where its from or who the owner was of that license plate. i havent a clue where to start.
I was mistaken. Most counties used 2 letters but later on some of the more populous counties could be 2 or 3 letters.Digits could be 1 to 4 numbers.I've never seen 5 though.GV would be Garvin county My part of the world.
thanks Robert, i looked that up on the internet but in the 80's and 90's only 3 letters and 3 digits not 4. If it is from Oklahoma then it must be from the county Galvin. That is what i could find. do you agree ?
Plate looks to be Oklahoma 80's or 90's.Hard to be sure but sizing and color, dark green, would be correct.Would be 3 letters, for county designation. Also top of plate looks like Oklahoma is OK.That went out about 2000 I think.HTH Robert S.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
