I recently brought in an original, unrestored 1963 Indiana license plate and posted on another thread and it was suggested we post pictures of our vintage, antique or personalized plates we run on our 1963/64 Cadillacs.

I will start this off by showing a full rear shot of my 64 Coupe de Ville with an original 1964 North Carolina license plate.  In NC you can run a correct vintage plate as long as you keep the current license plate and registration in the car. Unlike some states they are not linked.  My plate is like new and believe it was restored.  I bought it so long ago now I can't remember!

If you have a unique plate on your 63/64 Caddy please share! Maybe we will run these in a future newsletter.

Here's my 64 NY Plate

Very cool plate.  Neat to see the NY World’s Fair promoted.

Very nice Fleetwood! I don't see many of those on the page. Nice and bright taillights too! I need to do some work on mine to brighten them up. Clean ground and some fresh bulbs are in order...

Oh, and nice plate!

Thanks! I replaced the lenses with repros and also sprayed the inside of the housings with chrome spray paint in addition to cleaning up the sockets. Seemed to help a lot.

That can help a lot. I did a batch of the 63 tail lamps last year and will do a batch of 64's at some point later this year! Here is a before and after with the 63 tail lamp.

How important is the gasket that is in that housing? My gasket are present, but not in good shape by any means. I have been wanting to spray my TL lenses as the photo above, but I dont want the gasket to crumble as I know it will!

Are there repops that I can use?

Here is the correct year CA plate currently on my de Ville. It is not the original plate of the car.  The Texas plate below was from my first de Ville that I had in the 1980s.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
