The schematics are from the repair manual and show a LIGHT BLUE wire coming from the headlight switch to the dimmer switch. From the dimmer switch to the low beams on a TAN wire and to the high beams on a LIGHT GREEN wire. The picture is of my dimmer switch which has a GRAY, VIOLET, BLACK and RED wire. Can someone shed some light on what I am missing. I realize some of the colors I used are wrong, but the program I used is limited or would not stand out.

Not understanding what you are after.

From what I am looking at in the schematics, there should be a light blue wire from the headlight switch to the dimmer switch. Why isn't there a light blue wire on the dimmer switch. Why isn't there a tan or green wire on the dimmer switch. According to the manual, there is nothing in between the headlight switch and the dimmer switch. And the schematic doesn't show a red wire at the dimmer switch. I was thinking that I could power a relay with the blue wire and power the dimmer switch with the relay, another way to keep the current down going thru the headlight switch,

Your car has the optional Guidematic AutoDimming option which has different wiring from the non guidematic headlight.  Look at Fig 12-106 on page 12-89 in your 1963 Cadillac shop manual. You will see your different colored wires.

I replaced all the dash lights and while I was in there, I decided to try to light the headlight switch and this is what I came up with, so far. Need to do some mods and will show what I did when it is finished.

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
