Hey all, has anyone had their windshield removed and resealed successfully. I'm pretty skittish about having someone mess with my perfectly good glass knowing that these cars are a little different than the new junk. It leaks in 3-4 places when going down the hiway. Also worried about them screwing up the trim around the windshield. Maybe I'm just being over protective since its hard to find competent techs on this old stuff.
Thanks

Put- windshield — in the search engine on the top right of the home page ( our library )
You want to read the threads by - Clovis - especially the one on page 5 - where he removed and replaced his windshield and the rubber seal
Rock auto had the best price on a new windshield seal per Clovis
That should give you some info and tips on what is required to seal up the leak
You should have to get a new windshield rubber seal to do the repair or give it to a shop of your choice
Enjoy
Your concerns are valid. I suggest that you do THOROUGH research and pick a shop that specializes in older cars with gasket-seal windshields. After my car was painted I needed to have my windshield installed. I found a shop nearby that SAID they could do it (lesson learned, I should have done more research). They even had a vintage car on their website. Long story short, after bringing it back 3 times, I wound up with a leaky windshield and damaged trim. Like several other things I want done right, I ended up just doing it myself. The most important thing is finding the right sealant. This stuff is like a tar or clay that does not skin-over or cure. If you find a good shop that can actually do it right, it probably won't be cheap. It is quite a task.
New windshields are available for replacement but they are thinner glass than stock original —-so stock original is the way to go —-if at all possible
Enjoy
Thanks all for the comments. Its kind of what I suspected.

Good Morning all!
I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…

I'm having my steering sector rebuilt, and considering changing it from 20-1 ratio 4.2 turns lock to lock to 3.5 turns lock to lock @ 16-1 ratio, If i change from a 3 1/4" box to a 3" box i could have a 14-1 Ratio steering response would be faster, shorter distance to turn the wheel to get a response, has anyone done this? and how do you like it? thank you

I've looked at the usual rubber sources but couldn't find any.
