Tail Light Issue

I have an issue with my left side lower bulb in the bumper end housing portion. The bulb that operates the backup light. I can't get a bulb to operate although I do get 12V when I put my tester to that center pin inside the bulb housing. I even added some solder to the tip of the bulb contact to see if the buidup would help contact, but no go. The bulb does take a bit of effort to insert as if it is contacting the spring loaded pin.

U had this same issue and messed with the socket for a long time, but could not get it to work consistently - the spring at the base was just too old and had lost its springiness. I replaced the socket and all was well. I documented the process at the link below - it is really pretty easy and actually took much less time than I had spent fiddling with the original socket.
