Hey guys, I'm getting ready to drop the tank on the '63. I've read up on all the blogs about tank leaks, seaps, vent hose, etc. Like others, I get a gas smell when over half full but no wet spots on floor or evidence of and leaks around all the hoses. So, rather than mess around, I'm just going to replace all the rubber and sender sock.
Want to gather all the parts and have a question on which size openning on the sender filter/sock. I see two listed 3/8 or 5/16?. My SDV does have air if that makes a difference. 5/8 for vent hose?, Filler hose - are these a standard size, vent hoses 1/4 and ???, fuel line size. Guess I'll need a sender gasket too.
I know I could get most of the hoses after I drop the tank but living rural, try to avoid trips to town in the middle of a project. I don't remember seeing a list of all the sizes/parts needed, but would be glad to post one when done.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks Tony and Jason! The only thing I'm missing is whether its 3/8 or 5/16 on the strainer/sock.
I see Summit has the sock for $11 + $5 shipping. Looks like the hoses I can get locally. Still looking for the sender gasket. Oops, maybe I shouldn't have named mames.I'l have to see how ambitious I get as far a painting. Laying on my back on cold concrete this time of year ain't too enjoyable plus paint doesn't stick well.
With tank off you might consider cleaning and painting as I did back in 2009 on my 64 CDV. You can see pictures from that project Here: http://6364cadillac.ning.com/photo/albums/jason-gas-tank-project-au...
Here are hose specs:
gas supply line: 5/16:
vent return line: 1/4"
Vent tube at front of tank: 5/8"
Large Filler tube at rear: 2"
Keep in mind that you also have rubber hoses at the front of the metal gas supply and vent return lines and it would be a good time to replace those also since you will have the lines open at the rear anyway.
You will also want to take a close look at the large vent tube at the rear. Per Serviceman Bulletin you will want to make sure it has the hole in the top and is angle more straight up. When I installed mine I simply bent the hold down bracket back the other way forcing the vent pipe in a more upward position.
Here is the service man bulletin. Double click to enlarge.

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
