Just finished dropping the tank on the 63 SDV due to the common problem of  gas smell when I filled it up. It was either due to a bad gasket on sender or cracked hose on vent tube.  Project cost me 40.00. Ingredients were as follows:

3ft. 1/4 fuel line for return line

3ft 5/16 fuel line for fuel line

7 Inches of 2 inch filler hose

2 inches of 5/8 vent tube hose

Clamps for lines

Gasket material for sender unit

Fuel sender sock

Everything was pretty straight forward on removal and install. Just a lot of time laying on your back on cold concrete getting dirt in your eyes. I had even tried to wash the underside off but living on rural gravel roads you can never get it all.

Pretty much followed Jason'.s pics on supporting the rear end, etc. Thanks Jason.  Didn't do any painting as this is a driver. Maybe a project for summertime. I did find out that the straps go on much easier with the J on the Jbolts facing the front of the car. Also, replace the fuel sock! Mine looked ok when I pulled the sender but when I turned it over, it was split apart so it wasn't doing much filtering.

And, so far, NO MORE SMELL!

Thanks all for the guidance from this site

Great job Tom and good advice Robert. Only thing I can add is also keep a big bottle of saline eye wash in the garage for those times that you get in too big of a hurry and think you can slide under the car, and touch anything over head and not get something in your eyes! :-)

Did this project  a few years back for the same reason,  gas smell. Also found my fuel sock split open. Also my  fuel  gauge   would peg out to full with the tank empty. That small copper strap had broken so soldered it back together. Fixed fuel gauge problem. I 've learned the hard way to wear eye protection while under the car, that debris will get in the eyes.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
