4,442 Pounds of Cadillac Metal Cadmium Plated! - Pick-Up 12th batch Thursday

Over 4 years ago I started having the fasteners and other items I had from the 50+ parts cars (now 60 parts cars) gold cadmium plated so we could take our cars to the next level.

For me it accomplishes several things:
- For the many under hood and other items that were gold cadmium plated, it is a way to really get the car to like new condition. Almost all of the under hood fasteners not on the engine were gold cadmium plated. And, larger items like the hood hinges, upper and lower hood latch brackets & fasteners, and several external engine items such as the ignition coil bracket,

- It also really makes the engine bay pop compared to just taking the rattle can and spraying every thing black.  We have all been there and done that but painting a ruddy, crusty bolt and washer, bubbles and rust has no comparison to a like new bolt and washer that has been acid dipped, and cad plated.

- And that leads me to the 3rd main reason, It simply restores the fastener or part.  There comes a point where something is just too corroded or damaged to do anything with, however, the cad plating process means the items usually comes back to me in really nice condition.

Anyway, I could go on and on but thought I would share a few thoughts and my every increasing Cadmium Haul:

You've almost reached an entire Cadillac's weight in cadmium plated parts! That's pretty crazy to think about. Really appreciate you doing all that. I was cleaning my engine bay today and that hood hinge you sold me really pops!

I picked up the 12th batch of cadmium plated parts and have dumped out 3 totes of 9 with the smaller "nuts & bolts" type stuff for me and my wife Chery to start sorting.

I posted one picture of the haul on Facebook here is that picture and another:

Here are the 3 totes dumped out on the table. There are a LOT of different things here!

Jason,

That's an entire Cadillac's worth of weight!!!!!!!

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
