1964 Conv. non-tilt. Got in my car today and went to put my shifter in "Reverse, or Drive " and the shifter moved but did not go into gear. I looked in the engine compartment and my shifter rod from the steering column WAS NOT moving to change position. Can anyone advise what to do next?
Thank you
Dominic

On the non tilt columns, looking at your shop manual illustration, shift lever connects to shifter tube that connects to the shifter lever. It is a direct connection and all rotate together and I have outlined in yellow in illustration.
The carrier is pressed onto the shifter tube, onto a keyed area that keeps the carrier locked in place. It sounds like you carrier was not pressed onto the shifter tube all the way or has worked it self up and off the tube over the years. See the keyed area pointed to by pen in 2nd picture.

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
