Cadillac 40Amp Fuse

I purchased this fuse. It turns red hot and failed

Is this the correct fuse? The glass fuse works, no problems

I would like a metal fuse, but clearly this one is not good

Where can I get a good one???

What circuit is this for?

Windows and convertible top, in the fuse block left side under dash. You can see it if you lay down in the drivers foot well. It is the location of all the fuses

Ok, I know that fuse, but have never had a reason to mess with it.

I'll leave it to more knowledgable people to answer.

Sounds like we shouldn't ever operate the power windows and the top at the same time. (Common sense, too.)

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
