After making a decent start on cleaning up a section below right rear area of my my 64 Coupe de Ville - Dino's undercarriage, I have been slow to make more progress but in the last couple of days have removed those thick frame to body support braces as seen in the first to pictures below.
Having a car with undercoating and 160K+ miles on the body, the brackets are a combination of the undercoating and crud. With them removed I will clean this rearward undercarriage section, and apply POR-15 rust preventive coating then top coat. I AM NOT taking down to the metal, just getting below the loose dirt and grime. This is not a frame off and will only go to metal when metal is compromised and needs to be repaired ... which I will have some of that to do later on at the front!
Of course I have these brackets and the large 7/16" bolts and washers cad plated and will use those to go back on after undercarriage has been completed in this area.
I am a truly slow burn in getting things done on Dino, but wanted to share my baby-step progress with a quick update and a few pictures:
ABOVE: Right rear section showing the flat body to frame that juts diagonally back to reinforce car body. This will be the section I clean and coat next.
ABOVE: Left Rear area showing bracket. I think I will do this undercarriage section next.
ABOVE: Comparison of gold cadmium plated braces and fasteners one left with the As Pulled condition on right. Note. I save all my body bushings and have some pretty decent ones with pliable rubber. The best of the best will of course go to Dino.
ABOVE: Here are the braces flipped over with the ones off Dino on left and the cad plated ones on the right. Note: These screw into captive nuts up in the frame. These large 7/16"-14 bolts backed right out and know my threads are good on the nuts, so will reuse those nuts. I actually have a few I have cut out of the cages from parts cars, but my nuts are fine. LOL
So, I am going to go out on a limb and say I think this section of the undercarriage will look really nice when I get it top coated, and the new gold Cadmium bling installed.
Stay tuned for more....

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
