Interesting find in trunk of my 63. Nope - its not a body.

I found this rather beat up trophy in the trunk of my recently purchased 63 4window. The previous owner had no history on it, or much on the car. He had owned it for 11 years and never did much with it except put a cheap paint job on it. Orig color was Benton Blue but its currently a little more blue that.

The trophy says Cadillac Club International - 1st Place Best Sedan.

This old girl has had a rough life along the way, with some time spent outside. The odometer reads 39k which the PO thought was original but who the heck really knows. It doesn't show a lot of wear on the brake and gas pedal which is usually one the tell tale signs of use. It still had clear plastic seat covers on the front when I got it, which was severly yellowed/cracked and now gone.  The fabric is faded  and split in the seams. .

Anyway, like many, it would be interesting to know what these old autos have gone through over the last 50 years.

The GM Heritage Center can provide the original build list page showing all the key build options for the car. They also provide dealer data book, spec manual, owners manual and other scans with the package. They DO NOT include the original dealer ship or owner of the car.

Hello Tim,I can't help you with dealership info ,but from your serial number should be build  date autumn 1962.Your data plate on the cowl upper left corner should have a digit (or digits)and a letter.Digit would be month ,letter would be week of month.A=1st week etc.9C would be 3rd week Sept 62HTH.

I can account for 30+years with my SDV,traded my non-running 69 Camaro even for my Caddy with my best friend. He had traded even with an auto parts store owner. My buddy had a very hot VW motor he was going to put in his next project and the store owner needed a motor for his Karrman Ghia. This was a 3way swap,no money involved! This was Oct 83.My Caddy was bought new and owned by an elderly lady on July 26 1963 from Joe Pistocco in Wichita Falls ,Tex.I think the store owner was her nephew.I was fortunate to get the service stubs booklet with the car;only 3 were torn out.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
