Event Description

Note that the Albuquerque, NM Grand National has been postponed to June 2023. See note from CLC President Glenn Brown below:

This is the letter I didn’t want to have to write. The Board of Directors has decided it is best to reschedule the Albuquerque Grand National until a later date. I had hoped that we would be able to hold this year’s Grand National in Albuquerque with a few modest alterations. However, despite vaccination opportunities improving, and an optimistic outlook for moving past this pandemic, COVID continues to upend our plans.

While significant progress is being made in addressing the pandemic’s health impacts, they aren’t gone. COVID related restrictions remain in place in many parts of the country, including Albuquerque. We had anticipated that some level of social distancing might remain in place. But current restrictions and those likely to be in place for our dates, would adversely impact most of our activities, tours and tour venues. We anticipated we would not be able to have our usual buffets, banquets, bar service, or hospitality suite. We had additional concerns about having enough experienced judges to judge the cars. Secondarily, we felt that we couldhave difficulty being able to meet our significant financial obligations to the host hotel as well. At the time our decision was made, we could not assure that we could hold an event of the caliber you have come to expect fromyour Club.

Therefore rather than hold a severely diminished event, the Board decided to postpone the Albuquerque Grand National to June of 2023. I know this is very disappointing to our host Region members, who worked diligently to hold this event in the face of this pandemic. It is also disappointing forthose who made plans to attend, especially those of you who felt we should have held the GN last year.

After having cancelled last year’s Grand National, we were doing all we couldto try to hold this year’s event as planned.  Unfortunately, the situation has simply not improved enough to enable us to safely do so. Therefore in the best interest of the Club and the health of our fellow members, we believe this is the correct decision.

In the interim, the outlook is very good to have all these concerns behind us for our Grand National in Chicago (Lombard, Illinois) June 21-25, 2022, and a rescheduled Albuquerque Grand National June 20-24, 2023. They are both going to be great events. I hope to see you there.

We are working on possibly holding a more casual Cadillac-Lasalle Club gathering in the Southeast in October. I’ll keep you posted as planning for that event evolves.

Until then, stay safe.

Glenn

Hey everyone,  how sensitive should the power brakes be?  I have just rebuilt the power booster and  replaced the master cylinder. The pedal doesn’t have any resistance so I have to be very gentle so…Continue

I was questioning if my 63 was shifting into 4th , so I installed a tach and don't notice a 3-4 shift. Cruising at 70 the RPM is at 2600. Sounds high.  Has anyone noted RPM's at highway speeds?. I…Continue

Torque converter grab when idling in Drive

Posted by Cliff Johnston on June 14, 2021 at 8:47pm 1 Comment

Hi Everyone, been quite a while since i have been on here.

I have had an issue with the idle on my 64 Coupe Deville ever since i have had it.

With the Idle set high enough that it is smooth, but still a nice idle, the RPM seems only slightly too high for the stall of the Torque Converter. And therefore it tends to sit there and grab and lunge a bit. So until now, i have been putting the car in Neutral at the lights to stop this happening.

I've had the car dyno tuned and…

Can you help? Driveshaft Question....

Posted by Chris on May 30, 2021 at 8:55am 1 Comment

Hello!

Newbie to the group here - we have already found tons of invaluable information on the board, so thanks! We are restoring a 1963 Series 62 Convertible. We are wondering if anyone knows of a source to buy the propellor yoke flange (that bolts to the pinion flange) for the driveshaft? One of our ears partially broke off. Not sure if we can buy just the yoke flange as an aftermarket part, or if it has to be rebuilt by a welder/fab guy? Maybe a salvage yard for a source? Again, any…

V.I.N. where?

Posted by Robert Pellow on April 18, 2021 at 1:41pm 6 Comments

Where can I find the V.I.N. on a 63 convertible?  The usual space at the base of the interior windshield on the driver's side has been decimated by weather.
