Hello all. I installed my reconditioned Carter carb yesterday and forgot to connect the wire going to the electronic choke. Well, it went to ground and fried pretty bad. The insulation melted and I can't tell if the wire providing the juice is red or pink. I have to change out the wire and all fried connection but I could not find the wire on the other side of the firewall. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

There are different versions of the 64 Primary engine cranking harness. The main different will be if you have the Hydramatic (no pink kickdown wire) or the Turbo Hydramatic (has pink kickdown wire). The BIG difference between 63 & 64 is that the 63 had the wiring that extends down to the starter as part of the engine cranking harness whereas the 64 had a separate starter harness that connected into the primary engine cranking harness up at top passenger side rear of engine.
I replaced the wire through the firewall to the ignition switch. When I turned the key nothing happened. I looked at the schematic and I think the pink wire I cut away was spliced to the pink wire going to the fuse box. I am giving my back a rest today but still cursing a blue streak for not connecting that choke wire.
I would run the wire to ignition feed to kickdown switch per standard setup. I was judging back witih the 63's to 66's most of the day of the car show.
Thanks Russ. I thought I was going crazy. Jason, should I run a new pink wire under the dash to the kickdown or can I pick up a 12 volt hot wire from somewhere else? My back will love that. I was looking for you in Quincy to say hello on my way to Maine. I only spent 2 hours at the show but it got me looking forward to Lake George.
Switched pink wire connects to kickdown switch at left rear of stock carb, and connects with resistor wire behind the firewall. There is a picture showing pink wire at this link: http://6364cadillac.ning.com/photo/cranking-harness-64-cadillac-res...
Hi Russ. It is a 1964 Fleetwood and the power to the choke comes off the kick down switch. The kick down's power comes from what I think is the pink wire coming through the firewall. I can't find electronic choke or kick down switch on the wire schematics

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
