I have been waiting around about 2 months for another Group 60 Original Style battery (long story), and finally got Dino fired up yesterday and backed out of the garage and the dust knocked off of her today after finally receiving my new battery. It felt good to get the Caddy back out of the garage and washed off. Next is some intense cleaning. I started with the inside today and will hit the outside and engine compartment in the coming days. Original style (well very close) cross grain vinyl. Kinda dingy right now but will hit it in the next couple of days.
Carnauba wax is the absolute best. Gives a deep shine that lasts forever.
I have been using Sonax Carnauba Care with great results.
My go to wax on the 64 tends to be Meguires Gold Class Carnauba Plus. On the Escalade I will often use a cleaner wax first, like the Royal Blue Brazilian Carnauba Wax & Cleaner I picked up at a car show probably 5 years ago. Car wax is not one of those things I am tied to for life and have quite a few different brands on my shelf. Before I got the Royal Blue cleaner/wax I would often use the Meguires cleaner wax in the red bottle on the Escalade when it has a lot of heavy road grime. Still use it sometimes.
I keep the mirrors turned for best viewing for me which tends to be down and inward a bit. That also keeps them tighter to the car and less likely to clip things which is a win-win. I see the mirrors all different ways in the ads, literature, etc. I will say that most of the "in use" early pictures tend to have them down and inward like I like to use them. Look at pictures and illustrations in Roy Schneider's Cadillacs of the Sixties and you see most of them down and inward. I see some illustrations with it flailed way out and up. I can't see anything from that angle! LOL. There really is no right or wrong way to have the mirror. They were adjustable for a purpose as people are different heights, and have the seat in different positions. As far as "from the factory" question, that would be along the lines of the question what position were the seats in from the factory. The answer is probably the position they were in during final installation. Perhaps the mirrors might have been turned inward and downward for transport. Don't know. That is one of the things, along with seats and tilt steering and radio stations people immediately set to their own preference as soon as they take ownership.
I was pleased to find this post as I was getting ready to ask about the adjustment of these mirrors. Like Jason, I also have to turn mine down and inward quite a bit to be able to see from it. I also have to push the inside door panel adjustment knob all the way forward (toward the dash). I am 6'3" so my seat is all the way back, but I still find it strange that I have the mirror angle/adjustment maxed out for viewing. I think the mirror looks strange twisted inward like this, but it has to be functional for safety. Unique thing is on my 1961 it does not have to be turned in and even though the seat is all the way back as well, I still have quite a bit of adjustment left in the mirror utilizing the mirror adjustment knob without being maxed out. Anybody else have a similar problem on their 63 or 64 mirrors?

Hey Jason, how about a couple of the engine bay, a good one of each side including the fender apron and one of the motor itself.
Not much has changed from the last engine bay pictures but will get more posted. I did keep the warning tag on the new battery. Not sure if that was always there new from the factory on these batteries but need to do more research. Since the GN's are out for me for the foreseeable future (and of course I am never in a hurry) I may pull the engine again this fall, go back over some things, finish installing the inner fender splash guards, and address that small rear seal drip leak. But... the more I drive and keep that seal soft and warm the less it leaks. The BIG AC project is also lurking somewhere in my future. I see that being as big or bigger than my engine rebuild in 2012 as I want to jump into that with both feed, both hands, my head, ears, eyes, and everything else I can get. I have been hoarding some key comfort control parts and want to put them to use once and for all.. that will also free up a lot of these parts for some of you guys that might need them.
Dino is looking good! I don't think I ever noticed, but do you not need front tags in North Carolina?
In NC no front state license tag required. Cities and Towns use to have their own front tags if you lived within a city limits, but believe most if not all of those were dropped by the 70's or 80's. What you can do in NC on a 35 year old or older antique vehicle, is run an original year license plate on the rear of your car as long as you keep the current plate and registration inside the car. What I have changed is to move my original license plate from the front of my car to the rear; revealing the original filler plate on the front, and now have the current plate and registration in the car.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
