My 63 Fleetwood had the engine and transmission rebuilt last year. Since then after a cruise and sitting for a couple of weeks there is a rather large transmission oil spot below the transmission. My mechanic has worked on it several times including replacing the dipstick tube. He recently inserted an O-ring which has not helped. I am looking for help and advice from you who experience this problem. Here are a couple of thoughts: 1) bend the dipstick at the bracket to get a more secure/ tight fitting to reduce vibration; 2) use a thicker O-ring which may give a tighter seal; 3) braze the dipstick opening to give a better seal. These are just some ideas. Has someone satisfactorily solved to their satisfaction. this poor design. All advice and suggestions gratefully appreciated.

The only seal for the dip stick is an O ring inside the transmission tube, where the dip stick pokes into.  It is darn near impossible to see, due to wearing flat and black and dirty as the hole is.

However, most folks use a good amount of sealant at the exterior to seal the tube.

Will share with my mechanic tomorrow

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
