car trouble

hey tony would excessive heat cause the fuel pump to stop pumping. i spoke to a guy at a local car show he told me to drive the car with the gas cap off he said i may have vapor lock. what temperature should the intake be when i test it?

Car trouble

It's been several months and I"m still dealing with the same problem with car not getting gas after driving for about 30 to 45 minutes. I took the car out this weekend it stopped again cause the gas bowl is empty but I notice the gas pump is not pumping no gas and I changed the pump a couple months ago because I thought that was the problem. I dropped the tank yesterday and it was clean. Do you guys think the pump is loosing pressure or something. Help

hey Jason I'm not sure I asked you this before but I have a spare edelbrock sitting in my garage is it really necessary for me to block the port holes as you suggest or can I just put it on there without going through all that.  I spoke to a couple of local guys and they said they never heard of such a thing. but I figured I better ask the the caddy guru first. and if so what should I tell the people and the machine shop what I want done. please read the post I posted before this one because…

problem found

hey gang after months of spending time and money trying to figure out why my car was shutting off as you guys may have  read from my previous post. the caddy gods have finally answered my prayers. harmonic balancer

hey jason do u sell the washer also or just the bolt.and i also wanted to know if the bolt remains in the shaft once we put in on or does it come of. because my mechanic was asking me why i didnt have a bolt in the shaft i tought thats how the car came

Car trouble

When I drive my 63 after about a hour it will shut of and the gas bowl will be somewhat empty and the car will not start until cools down. I have changed the fuel pump and remove the Thermostat. Changed the coil and condenser. I have asked around and people tell me so much things that my head is spinning. They said my gas may be vaporizing or it may be electrical or something in the tank. Wiring

Hey is there a demonstration on how the 63 should be grounded I took it to several mechanics and they said the wiring is fine I have to find out why the car shuts of after I drive for a while. I"m going to try to change the points and condenser next. I changed the coil and fuel pump but the same thing occurred again

car trouble

for the past few weeks every time i drive my car the seems to shut off after driving for about an hour and will not start until the car cools of. tranny problem

I took my 63 for a drive and the car takes a long time to get out of first gear and it has like a pull or jerk like feel with it does finally shift can any of you guys give and idea whats causing that and how do i go about fixing it myself.

still need a driveshaft

well thank you UPS for losing the driveshaft that Russ Austin shipped me. 

however i still need a rear driveshaft section for my 63. mine has a vibration due to the bushing inside of it. its a shame because the ball and sockets in the cardian joints are perfect but it has a woble on the balancing machine. so .  still need the rear section. anyone have a good one ? is there driveshaft alternatives to use ? i am really considering an LS swap and since im fighting the driveshaft search…

 So my 63 guide matic headlamps stay on low beam all the time. I have so far bypassed the system and everything works normal. I have been thru the trouble shooting in the manual but this is where the confusion begins.on my car when the power relay is powered I have low beam and when its not powered I have highbeam, this appears to be opposite what the diagnosis says should be correct.The wiring is all original and no wires have been mixed up.has anyone ever unplugged the 2 wire connector…

I hope someone can help solve these two electrical problems that appeared one after the other.

By way of background: The car, a '64 Eldorado has very limited use. It was at a restoration shop for 15 months until last January-  that supposedly did a bunch of wiring repairs including rebuilding the gas gauge that still hasn't worked properly, and the clock that hasn't worked, and re-soldering the broken wires in the drive door.
