I saw a post here recently on how to restraighten the rocker covers which can flex under the rocker cover bolts.  I have an oil leak at the back of the passenger rocker cover so assume I need to investigate with rocker covers off.  Jason you mentioned how to straighten out the rocker covers. Can you revise that please?

On the valve covers your outer mounting ridges are probably bent downward where they have been over torqued. Take the off and line up two short straight boards shorter than the length of the valve covers. Use one to sit underneath inside the ridge and the other to sit on top of the ridge and take a heavy hammer and pound with solid even strikes until the outer mounting ridge is straight again.  While they are off a good time to clean, bead, blast, and throw some paint on them. Regardless of the mechanics behind our fixes, a nice fresh coat of paint always makes things seem that much better. I always thought my cars even drove better when nice and clean....even thought I know somewhere deep down that's not quite true! LOL.  Keep us up to date and get'er done!

ps if you have problems finding valve cover gaskets I've got several new sets on hand...the thick cork and rubber type that seem to work best. Once you get them on, just torque to specs (28 in/lbs or  2.33 ft/lb), crank, let engine warm up, and retorque, then retorque again to specs after a few days of driving. People crarnk those 3/8" bolts down to 5 or 10 lb or more and end up making the situation worse and worse as the metal bends downward.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.
