OK so my Rochester is on the 57 Fleetwood not the 64 but I know I can get some feedback here on the problem... Carby went off the car and went for a refurb. Engine would not idle and the idle screw would do nothing. There was no bakelite spacer which I believe feeds the air to the mixture screw but now have installed that. Carby back from refurb on it goes and same deal.. The idle screw does nothing and the engine blows lots of black smoke at idle (too rich I assume).. Any ideas what is…

I saw a post here recently on how to restraighten the rocker covers which can flex under the rocker cover bolts. I have an oil leak at the back of the passenger rocker cover so assume I need to investigate with rocker covers off. Jason you mentioned how to straighten out the rocker covers. Can you revise that please?

hi all -- ignitor 3 is in and r unning OK. but theres a glitch.
ballast voltage to relay - switches 14 volts back to coil (flamethrower 2) then to ignitor 3 - all OK and running. switch off ignition switch and engine keeps running! there is 4 volts of residual voltage in the circuit. what I would like to do is bypass the ballast resistor and see if that fixes as I currently run the coil off the ballasted voltage (12.8volts) but would prefer to feed the flamethrower coil the full 14…

hi all
there is a heater hose that goes from the water pump to the heater tap. it appears there is a factory canal for this to follow but would appear to be a moulded hose needed there. I am just using normal heater hose that can not turn the 2 90 degree bends. is this moulded hose available?

just have the manifold off my car to replace a blown intake gasket. did not take enough notice when the carby came off - it is a carter - so when I refit - confirm - Manifold - Gasket - Bakelite spacer - Gasket - Shim - Carby ! cheers

OK so six months ago when the car hit the road it had lifter noise. added some Nulon lifter free and no more noise. now done 2500 km and there is a hint of some lifter noise again.
where is the best place to source new lifters and any tricks in replacing them?

OK so fiddling with the climate control means I have had to idle the engine for an extended period resulting in a large black sotty mark on the driveway and fouled spark plugs. cleaned the plugs and washed down the drive but is this an indication of rich mixture and if so is there an adjustment for mixture on the carter carbys? have not looked in the service manual thought I would put it out here for comment first.

ok I have sourced a 1970 transducer for my 64 climate control. told it would work.
it does but I need to adujust it and unlike the 64 transducer that had the screw
adjustment at the bottom this one appears to have none. at 65 degrees its getting
8.6 volts but still holding 7 inches of vacuum - still too much for the power servo arm
to move far enough forward to actuate the mode control so the AC comes on.
any ideas how to…

my 64 has the electric operated vent windows .. now I can always here a noise when I actuate
the switch to open but they seem to be very touchy at times and open when they are ready.
whats stopping them from opening even though there is a noise and then they do eventually
decide its time to work?
cheers

hi all
i need an intake manifold it anyone can advise if they know of one. also I have sourced one here in Australia but it appears to be off a 1960 engine. I have been told 3 stories - one that it will bolt in - one that it will need an extra gasket and one that it wont fit. anyone have any experience fitting older intake manifolds to 64 engines>?

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
