I am in the middle of doing a carburetor update and I am planning on blocking out the middle exhaust ports on the in manifold as per Jason's instructions on doing this update.  I am going to install an Edelbrock 1406 carb with electric choke.  In the instructions Jason mentions that the intake manifold gaskets should be updated to the thicker kind in order to seal around the metal plate being added to block off the exhaust passage that goes through the intake manifold on the production set up.  Does any one have a place that I can order those type gaskets either online or at an auto parts store.  I am only finding either the same thin type gaskets that are already on the car and won't seal properly, or what looks to be a gasket made from rubber from a company called Fel-Pro, and I don't know if those will do the trick.  I know that I am not the first one to do this update so where can I get the proper gaskets from?  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 1 Comment

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
