Just brought to California the Lime green 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille my father purchased in '64. He drove it 2 years and sold it to my grandfather, who drove it about 15 years. It then sat in his garage for 10 years, and then sat covered outside my uncles house for another 10 years. In 1992 my uncle gave it to my brother who shipped it to his home in Scottsdale AZ, where it sat in his garage for another 14 years. He intended to restore it, but never got around to it. His widow just gave it to me. Its all original, 52 k miles on it. First thing, got it to my mechanic at DeYoungs. Boiled out gas tank, new sending unit, new battery. Change all fluids. Engine fired up right away. Trans service, replaced master cylinder and all brake cylinders and lines. Put on 5 new WW tires. Almost ready to drive it home.
I am looking forward to doing a true restoration. Does anyone know where I can find a RH door latch. This one is broken, so the door will not latch closed. The closest I found is for a '65. Thanks.

Great advice. Fortunately, I do have a '64 service manual and gave it to the mechanic while he's working on the car. First order of business was to get it inspected and getting running safely.
Thanks.
John, First...Wow! I love hearing about these family cars that get passed around the family and end up in our member's possession. You might find our Sept 2014 Newsletter featuring Mark Nichol's "Pop-Pop's" car interesting as it had some similarly interesting history. You can find it on our newsletter page at www.newsletters.6364Cadillac.com or on this direct link: https://app.box.com/s/4wyyvabqh8tu0xz2m1uh
I also sell parts on the side and have many Coupe interior door latch assemblies for $25 + s/h. shoot me an email to jasonedge@nc.rr.com and provide address and we can go from there.
Also, I would strongly suggest joining the Cadillac LaSalle Club and our 1963/64 Cadillac Chapter! We host the website but you must be a member of the CLC to join the chapter. I would love to feature your family Cadillac Story in a future Chapter newsletter!

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
