Hello everyone, I am considering the install of the basic pertronix unit, but wanted to ask if its required to remove the distributor from the engine to add the spacer above the gear at the bottom of the shaft? If yes why does this have to be done?

I never had any issues with the car starting with the II. As soon as I installed the Edelbrock 1411 way back, I never had an issue with starting. With the III , it just seemed to have more overall power when I really gunned the throttle. When I went from the II to the III I also rejetted the Edelbrock to take advantage of the additional slight mods I had done to the intake. I just remember when going from the II to the III and taking it out on the highway and punching the throttle it was even more responsive.
You can see the difference at the Pertronix site- www.pertronix.com
Here are direct links descriptions for the Ignitor I, II, and III and a comparison chart below which is on page 3 of their downloadable PDF catalog.

I started with an Ignitor II probably 10 years back then went with the III this past May when I rebuilt my engine and was very pleased with both. The III seemed to give an even better spark than the II. After the rebuilt I went ahead and ran the II for a while then upgraded to the III. For my upgrade from the II to the III series I installed the 71181 Ignitor III electronic Ignition and the 44011 Flame Thrower III ignition coil.
For the III the distributor does not come out. For the II it does. Quite different design between the two.

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
