I had to replace the heater core in my 63 SDV, so I decided to replace all the dash lights with LED's. and replaced all the vacuum lines. While I was in there, I added a light to the headlight switch and also added a buzzer that lets me know I left the lights on when I open the door. If interested, I will post how I did these things.

Looks great!

This is the mod to the headlight switch. I soldered the white/black wire to the dark green wire (did not cut either one) and also soldered a pigtail to it for the light bulb and a lead to a relay for a headlight reminder when the door is open and lights are still on. Soldering the white/black and dark green together keeps the parking lights on with the headlights.

Rob Schles,

At some point I would like to do this when we have to remove the instrument cluster... replace the dash lights with LED's, add a light to the headlight switch, and splice the wires so parking lights remain on with headlights.  The buzzer is nice, but not a must-have.  Replacing the vacuum lines is an arduous project, but if that is the time to do it...

I agree with this laundry list! While shes open, may as well replace what needs replacing!

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
