Well, things were just going too good for too long.

went out this a.m.  Hit the key, got nothing but a click,, not the click click click of a dead battery, but a click.

turned off, tried again, nothing but a click,  I checked the battery connections and the ground connection to back of starter.  all good battery was full charged.  Tried again, just a click,

I left, came back later, nothing but a click.  waited, later, same thing,  then went to internet search to see what that meant. wast happy with answers.  went back out, hit the switch, engine fired right up!!  What the hell!!   I know this will happen again, so im looking to fix it

soo,  the obvious questions.  IS this solenoid? and how do I check it,  or, is it starter, and how would the separation of part that's damaged be determined?

I havnt noticed any plasticy wire burning smells,  car has been running great,,,

I haven't done this in a long time but auto parts stores used to test starters and solenoids for you. Call your local parts stores and ask if they still do that.

I would double check all wires, including grounds on cranking circuit and make sure car is firmly in park … even jiggling the lever a bit. If not firmly in gear or neutral safety switch is a bit off it will not crank … but usually doesn’t even make a click.

I would check the NSS first. Next time it does it, rock the shifter lever a bit to see if the car starts.

Russ, Jason,, I m running without a NSS.. the one I got from Russ a while back cracked so Im just in the habit of always checking the park at start and stop,  and not parking behind another car.

This morning, I went out to give it a go, and it just started right up,, Never flinched, just started.  maybe it just needed a jiggle, but im gonna have to try and see what that was in the next few days,, bad weather coming up here for a couple days,

Give the connector another squeeze with the pliers to see if it is loose. (the connected wires on the NSS circuit)

I hvnt been able to work on car due to weather. Went out today and it started fine.

My question is, if it is a starter, solenoid problem, is this a progressive condition?  By that i mean will it get worse or just be a hit or mis non start?  Strangely,  my 05 diesl is dead due to a 1295 code, sold the 73 eldo, so the 63 is my primary car that i now trust to start (73 WAS MYBALWAYS START go to) and its gone,  so if its a on off thing till incan get into it fully, i can get by, but if its gonna just die an i getvstranded, i hv to try to figure out some thing quick

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
