OK, it has been way too long since we had some Trivia Fun.
So here goes...
Check out the picture below and tell me what is it?
For Extra credit ... and cigars, give some details on what makes this a bit rare and unique?

Front turn  signal diffuser”s

they are made of glass, and fit over the turn signal bulbs in the front

Bingo! Ray gets the Cigar!
Now, what is something interesting about these for Extra Credit?

Think you are right, as far as going to amber for the park/turn signal lights, but there were different ways to skin that cat ... and that is not the extra credit answer. This has something to do specifically with the glass thingy's I posted.

Assuming those are for a 64? The ones on the 63 are more disc shaped & made of plastic like this slightly melted one:

Yep, 63 is a different set-up, for all it's different there was nothing unique or interesting about that 1963 amber dispersion lens.  If we could all run out and go check our 64's ... and report back ...haha, we could as a group discover the interesting fact. I am sure Russ and maybe a few others that have owned several 1964's ... or perhaps studied the Master Parts Book will know the deal on the orange/amber glass cones in the trivia post.

OK.. guess there will be no double cigar's on this one.  So, here is the crux... these glass amber dispersion lenses were only used in early production on the 1964 model year ... at least that is what I have observed. at some point, it seems they switched over to the amber tinted 1157A bulbs and did away with the cool glass bulb. The current parts car I am working on, VIN 64J021717 still had them and not sure when they switched over. I thought the Master Parts Book would offer a clue but looked again last night, and the 1965 MPB only lists the complete housing, the 1157A bulb, and no mention of these dispersion lenses... unless I am missing something. I also do not recall this in the Serviceman Bulletins but need to rescan. If anyone else has any info, regarding specific switch over or other info please share. Regardless they are cool little items.

The switch to amber light was made in 1963. I believe 1962 and prior was clear... so no 1/2 cigar. The 1964 Cadillac (and 1963 Cadillac) always had amber turn and park lights... the 64 had 2 methods of achieving this during the model year. The answer I was looking for was the fact the item I posted was only used for part of the 1964 production model year.  But...will give you a cigarette butt since you did allude to some good history in the evolution of Park and Turn Signals.

So.. with that.. here is your Cig Butt!

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
