Adapt, Improvise and Move an Cadillac Engine!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello and give a quick update on a couple of things and share a garage thing I thought you might get a kick out of. 

First, my arm is out of the brace as of last Monday but can still only push and pull so much of it. As a reminder I was cut open at the Elbow and the wrist to move a nerve, The Ulnar never, which was causing Cubital Tunnel Syndrome. I had worn the brace for a month and was ready to shed it. I still have lots of exercising  and physical therapy.

So, I had brought that engine and transmission in from VA Beach a week or so back, and had peeled some of the externals off of it sitting in the center of the car hauler. I really need to get the cherry picking to it to remove the transmission and get the engine on the engine stand so I can remove all externals.  We had actually used the wench to drag it to the middle which was great for travel, but could  not reach it with the cherry picker. I know from parting a car out to not over think things, and looked at the two Excalades and thought, OK a rope and the Escalade will make quick work out of this. I grabbed a rope, attached to the 2002 Escalade "Brutus" and the engine and transmission and drug it over to the edge of the car hauler. 
Sometimes you just have to use what ya got! LOL.

Anyway, I was chuffed with my quick little victory, and thought I would share  few pictures.

I slide a pieced of plywood under so it would pull easier.....  not that Brutus had any problem pulling it, but didn't want to scar up the oil pans.

With transmission detached, engine is now on engine stand for final disassembly.
(Note: intake & carb, exhaust manifolds were already removed from this running engine. Hoping it has a good front engine cover!)

The good shifting Big HydraMatic was cleaned up a bit and posted for sell. ($500 for non-members, $375 for members ... you can't beat that with a Cadillac DipStick!)

I have been busy in the garage as well!

One of my good friends just brought home a 1986 Cadillac DeVille. We have spent a few hours getting a few things sorted out there! I gifted him a 1 year membership to the Cadillac & LaSalle Club which I was honored to provide! So far, we have installed new hood support shocks, oil change, all filters, coolant flush, and new upper and lower radiator hoses. In the 80s, GM used some kind of uncoated wire hose clamps. Someone had WAY over tightened these rusted old clamps damaging the hose end and cause leaks. Replacement was fun, but tedious! 

On my 64, I’ve been driving and enjoying! Little things here and there. A few cad plated items get installed every time! I also got the intake I purchased from you totally painted! That was a quick and easy job thanks to Cheryl bead blasting it for me! Thanks again! 

Spent a good hour or so scrubbing the white walls on my 64 Fleetwood and friends 86 DeVille. Next round of tire purchase, I will not cheap out. The tires I bought have turned brown rather quickly. Oh well.

I also took a leap into the classic garden tractor world and purchased a 1974 John Deere 110. It came with a 47” mower deck and front mount snow thrower. I purchased this as on our newly purchased home, we have a little over an acre of yard and 24 trees. I needed something besides my nice zero turn lawn mower to pull a heavy yard cart, lawn roller, and plugger/aerator. This does the trick and in classic style!

Springtime is always busy and I try to be outside for as much of it as I can!

Looks like you have been very busy. That intake looks fantastic! ...Always great to see the better parts go onto Chapter member cars!  The John Deere looks in great condition. The older ones, like cars, were built more with quality in mind.
