does anyone out there have any experience with seat foam replacement on a 63/64 Cadillac. I had my seats reupolstered many years ago in original leather/fabric and they still look great, but the foam/padding underneath has degradated and compressed to the point the seats look misshapend and are not real supportive when sitting on them. I have looked around for replacement foam and padding specific to my 64CDV but does not appear that anyone manufactures anything. Does anyone have experience or a recommendation? Thank you in advance with any ideas or direction you could give me. Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I will be doing the exact same thing you just discussed in your post. I plan to do it over the LONG winter we get in Upstate NY. I know you are in Florida, but this might help. I know an excellent upholster that does all types of furniture - a craftsman. I will remove the seats and he will have them in his shop for a while, and will pick them up in his truck. New padding and reupholstered. I am getting the seat material shipped to my home. Do you know anyone that does quality furniture, as well as auto seats? That might be your best bet.

Quality old school interior shops will repad the seats when they reupholster them. Auto Interiors in Raleigh has been around 50+ years did mine about 25 years ago and repadded my seats. While they will have to special order the material (probably from SMS) if you want factory original they should have their own modern padding supplies that will probably hold up much better that that stuff they put in seats 60 years ago that turns to dust.
Thanks. I guess I will start with the auto upolsterer shops. unless you get the older guys, the younger ones hardly recognize the methodology for the interiors, but hell half of them cant even figure out the ignition keys!!! Thanks for the help!

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
