I can't believe I never noticed that! There are so many little details on these cars, it's hard to remember them all.

You did a nice job prepping that rear before installing it. I'll definitely need some tips from you to get mine looking that good. But speaking about that sentinel, where is the photocell on the dash?

Speaking of the gold Caddy and the posi rear end here's a picture of it going in:

The convertible I'm taking down has sentinel and forgot to try it out before I started dismantling it...not that the car was every running when I brought it in, but could have still probably tested it with a charge on the battery.  I think I may definitely put it asside for the Gold Caddy which came with the guidematic auto dimming but was bypassed long before I got the car. The auto dimming is definitely one option I don't want to restore!  Sentinel was cool...and really worked well on the red SDV, both in the delay in turning off and in the turning on at dusk and off at dawn via the dash photocell.

Haha I love the sentinel light. People can't believe anything like that existed in 1964 when I use it. I stopped using mine since it started flickering on and off once in awhile. I still haven't figured out what's wrong with it. You have to be a contortionist to get under that dash.

Can't remember if this one had posi. The gold CDV does as I swapped one in a few years back. I know the red sdv had a perfectly working sentinel light control. It freaked people out when I would leave the car with the lights on... Especially in 30 seconds or whatever I had it set to and they turned themselves off!

She's a real beauty. This was the one with the posi? Very cool.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
