Kurt, I got mine from OPGI and really don't remember what the other side looked like but looking at parts cars, the original had more of a grey color. Below is the best example I have ever brought in, that 41K mile Fleetwood from several years back. The hood insulation from OPGI was not expensive and was pleased, but it really didn't have any membrane on the bottom grey side, just sort of ended with the padding. Other than that I was very pleased. With that said, If you have correct period looking insulation, which yours is, a judge is not going to knock points off.  I would also go out on a limb and say OPGI probably got lucky in getting the color sort of close to the actual insulation I have seen, but yours would look absolutely correct to anyone other than someone that has 4 year degree in 1963/64 hood insulation!  Personally I actually like yours better than mine.

Jason, I bought some hood insulation several years ago but never put it on. Now's them time with the Grand National right around the corner. I don't remember where I bought it but it has a black membrane on one side & is gray on the other side with a thin membrane on the gray side too. From the pics you posted, the gray side goes out? I think it would look better with the black side out but guess I'll go with factory correct.

Nice job Jason.  Looks really sharp and true to factory original look!

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

-Samu

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
