First, I want to thank this group for all the great information you've posted over the years and in response to my recent queries here. This weekend I successfully adjusted my Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) so it releases the parking brake and sends power to the backup light sockets - in both cases, when is is supposed to!

The problem I have now is that the sockets for the backup lights are pretty much shot and don't make good contact with the bulbs' bases. I want to replace them. I know I will need to remove the taillight assembly and cut or grind the crimp off the existing socket, but I am looking for a socket that will fit (press in screw in with nut, or similar) or advice on how to mount a socket. I know I need a socket for a 1156 or 7506 bulb. There are lots of these sockets readily available, but it is not obvious if they will easily fit in the taillight's steel assembly. Is there a style (or better yet, specific item with a source) that people have used successfully and recommend?

Also, while on the topic of rear lights, I put in Russ' LED taillights - they are awesomely bright, and I highly recommend them!

Thanks, I tried the WD40 (and I tried a few other lubricants too) trick, but to no avail. I'll give the foil a shot

Thanks for the tip on stabilizing - between some more lubrication and poking around and stabilizing the LED bulb with some toothpicks I got it working!

Hi Karl. Why do you want to change the sockets if you have Russ' led lights? I cut of the old sockets and replaced them with push in sockets. Works great. If you want you can use sealing to have it "glued" in. I bought them at JT@T products, item # 2566F.

The socket is for the backup lights. Russ' units are tail, brake, turn signals, but not backup.

I'm thinking of the glue approach you describe. Essentially equally removable (not that I should need to) as the crimp in socket that is there now.

1963 RHS A/C kick panel - photos needed

Posted by SK on June 2, 2025 at 2:20pm 2 Comments

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?

My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.

Many thanks,

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
