Differential Carrier

Hi Guys,

I have a 64 Deville Convertible with the turbo hydra-matic without the controlled differential. I have fluid dripping out of 3 bolts on my Differential Carrier at a nice rate. I would like to correct this I have already re torqued them and the other bolts on the carrier. They still drip. In the manual section 11-10 note 9 they tell how to remove the carrier. What I don't understand is why do I have to remove the axle shafts to replace the gasket on the carrier.…

Reverb

Hello Everyone, My 64 Convertible has the am/fm radio with a speaker in the front dash pad and in the rear seat. I would like to add the GM style reverb kit. I found a switch with attached wires at a garage sale in a coffee can of parts from a 64 Buick for $2.00 I see how it could attach to the speakers but I don't know if it then attaches to the radio or there is a special box I don't know about that the whole then goes to then to the radio. Anyone have any info about…

1960's Bling

Hi Everyone, The picture isn't the best but I just installed to things in my 64 Deville. The item on the right which is hard to see is a tissue dispenser..but on the install drawing Cadillac calles it a tissue vallet. The big bread box on the left is a 12volt ARC 45 RPM Record Player. The record player is upside down so to play the side you want the record  goes…

Radio Antenna Cabel

Hey Guys I have a question about my car antenna cabel. While removing the antenna connector from the AM/FM radio I pulled more on the cabel than connector and I ended up holding it in my hand with the con nector still in the radio.  Now looking at it I'm woundering if its the reason I'm not pulling in the stations especially AM like I should. The cabel is black and part of that is stripped away exposing braded wire then some white tubing..should a solid wire be exposed after that? if…

Fuse Box

Hello Everyone, other than putting batteries in a flashlight my electric background stinks. I have a 12v 45rpm record player I want to mount to the bottom of the dash above the transmission hump. I can do that . The speakers are not an issue since the player sends out a signal on 1600 am. I can attach the ground wire to the dash. The power wire is to be hooked to the postive side of the fuse box. It has a 5amp fuse on it. I figure I could stick the wire with connector into a clip holding…

Gasket or Rubber Seal for Door Jamb Switches

Hi Guys, my door jamb switches now work. But what I don't know because of time and wear is there a gasket or rubber seal that goes between the switch and the plate when the switch is in position? If so where did you find it or did you make it?  Thanks! Tom

Ignition Lock Removal

Hi Everyone, I want to remove my ignition lock assy and have the cylinders corrected to the doors. I have read the manual and it says insert a paper clip (0.035"dia) in the release hole and turn the key to the left.

Sounds easy but I have 2 release holes and I am having trouble sticking paper clips and turning the key at the same time. So I know the lock assy is not per the manual but it is a GM key. Any suggestions..its one of those simple things that get you chesed after about 45…

Whats the difference in Meaning

Hey guys, whats the difference in a part called a reproduction and  called a replacement?  I'm looking at door jamb switches and the reproduction costs more than the replacement.  It sounds like a reproduction is not made by the OEM but a replacemnt sounds like not the original but something that will work..any thoughts? TV Antenna

Hi Guys, this may sound odd because I have a De Ville Convert but I found and got working a GE 9in B&W TV that worked on 120V, 12V or a big battery and I want to mount it somehow in the back seat. I am sure the Limo version had TV's put in by shooters of that time. Question is what did it look like. Does anyone have one or a picture of some limos of the time..like a Caddy with a TV antenna on it? or even a Lincoln..I know I have to do the analog to digital switch but think its a cool…

Courtesy Lights

Hi Everyone, I have a 64 De Ville Convertible and when I open either door the Courtesy Lights do not come on. I can make the fronts come on if I turn the headlight switch knob counter clockwise and I can make the rears come on by flipping the slide switch on the lower back of the front seat as mentioned in the owners manual. I thought of pulling a jamb switch and jumping it to see what was going on but this switch has 3 wires and I could not track it well while looking at the wiring diagram.…

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Posted by CHRIS CARLSON on December 6, 2023 at 10:54am 0 Comments

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

Posted by Les Eastling on November 15, 2023 at 10:34am 1 Comment

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
