I know  carburetor action/function is very old hat to many here, but i ran across this video with a guy that built a carb out of clear material, hooked up to his dads tiller, and used a high speed camera to film the function of a carb.  It was fascinating!!  As i have never really known for sure what was going on in there, this video made it completely clear the basics of a a carburetor.  What was really interesting is the dad in the video seems to know a lot more about carbs that his engineer son!!  the high speed camera really gives it meaning and context and gave me the visual explanation my brain needs to sort things

Getting along good. Still in breakin, hvnt had a chance to do a lot of driving. I live in a rural area, and normal day to day driving as described it difficult as everywere i need to go is at hiway speed, and it says to avoid long hiway speed drives until 500 miles.

I hv about 250 miles on the breakin in.  Got the o rings for the trans dipstick put in and chged trans filter while there.  No more trans leak!  Yeah!   I hv the nss to try to fix.  Put the ac comp back in and hook up,   that would be abput it.  Probably shoukdnt say this but its really a quiet engine at idle.  Knock on wood, stays that way

Edelbrock Carb Block off Plates

Posted by Chase on March 12, 2025 at 2:05pm 14 Comments

Hey guys,

I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?
