I got my parts in to replace gasket on the 63 cdv oil pump that is leaking.
reading in the manual, it says to remove engine front covers described in 2a.
that is a BUNCH of steps to remove the gasket and the two sets of gears, or am i over reading that and should i just stick to the disassembly while its on the engine, those 4 cap crews look easy enough access, and proceed to disassemble then reassemble under 5b and 6a
secondly, i received the PS pump and two new lines.. pump off ok,, pulley off ok,, but those hoses back on the steering column are a real bear,, any suggestion to get those loose, only thing at this point i can see to do is cut the metal piping at at the nut and slide a socket over it,, is there a easier access to pop it loose,, i have put some nut buster spray in it to sit all night,, see if any easier tomorrow.
Sincerely
Kim

Will re read the fitst post regarding 2x4,
Can i use my 2x8 ramps to get clearance underneath pysically and tgen jack. I am acared of the metal ramps. At 58, my mortality fear is real.
I was taking Marks advice to take a 7/16. 14 thread bolt to clean out the other bolt hole from anything in there. , the bolt is comoletely missing, as opposed to the other bolt, which is hanging due to the frame being in the way. The manual also says a 7/16. Wel, i put it in expectig to find resistsnce and the 7/16 slid in with no thread contact. Am i missinf something here. Sseems clear these bolts hv just backed out on there own over time, what should that bolt be, the manual did nt seem to distinguish any differences, just 7/16
one is completely missing, the other, is still there but hanging loose, i really cant tell its condition due to location except by my snake light video cam. i can hand turn it back in some, that is about it,, jusy have to get it out, waiting on replacement parts,, to arrive, before going much further,,
As I noted before, all exhaust bolts are 2 1/4" long, except the 2 left/driver side rear bolts which are 1 1/2" long. Perhaps someone tried to install the left rear 1 1/2" bolts in the right front? If you can remove the one bolt you can measure the length. Regardless, I shipped you 6 nice correct original 2 1/4" exhaust bolts today.
Ok. Thanks, who knows wat happened, im hopi g it gies smooth, ready to drive the thing a while,
Yes Tony I read that, BUT that is a long way from removing the tire, inner fender and motor mount bolt. He indicated that the bolts were gone, so if they were able to fall out they should have slid back in. I was suggesting to just slide a new gasket into the gap and reinstall new bolts. But I will defer to the great Carnac and I rest my weary fingers from typing.
just to be clear ,, the front bolt of the two at ihefront of the engine is still in place, it just is having because it doesnt have clearance to fall out, , the back bolt of that two bolt connection is simply gone,, i dont know if that clears up anything..
thanks again,
Time for a new thread to stay on topic. Kim, just dive in and buy a set of wiggly sockets and a few long extensions. Its just bolts to the exhaust manifolds. No need to remove the exh manifold, so the bolts do not need to come out. Loosen up the bolts and the manifold will come away from the head. Scrape away the old gaskets and put new ones in.
No need to jack the engine, just get to it from up top and under the car.
Would ya get them sockets at Piggly Wiggly?

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
