A quick question. Is there a difference in the bushing design from the 63-64 vs the 65 on up Cadillacs?
I am in need of some bushings and I've looked on RockAuto, and OPG, but I am confused because on the OPG website it list the bushings being the same for a 61 all the way up to a 76 Cadillac.
Caddy Daddy is insanely expensive and overpriced, so I am looking for alternatives.
Can I use the MOOG bushings part # K5184 for the 64?
Thanks.

Hello everybody, well this has been an interesting journy. I am still trying to figure out why I am getting a vibration at the flywheel area, I suspected something was replaced so this lead me to look at the transmission ID # on the side of the trans, including the engine itself. I can't believe it took me this long to figure it out, but the ID # on the trans is AA-65, and the 429 engine has to be out of a 65 as the water pump lower hose outlet connector goes to the passenger side of the…

Exactly what the title says. Mine is missing, and I really don't like the flywheel being exposed as rocks and debris can damage it.
Thanks!!
For some reason I just barely noticed this last night while under the car. It looks like someone removed the oil pan once before, and decided to cut it. I see the weld marking going all around the pan.
Why would anybody do this?

I am pretty bummed out right on what just happened earlier tonight. I'm not sure if it was human error on my part or maybe their was something wrong with the rad in the first place.
Ok so it's summer time, I typically service my cars during this time of year heavily because of the heat which tends to kill everything when it's hot as hell outside. I don't worry about any kind of freezing or cold related wear items, because I live in CA.
I replaced the Thermostat and…

I read up on how Cadillac just increased the bore and stroke in order to raise HP and Torque figures, but is the 429 a completely new and bigger engine than the 390 or is it the same size engine but with just larger internals?
Thanks much!

I was wondering if this trim is aluminum or stainless steel? I've been trying to polish them up to look more like chrome, but I think I am going to need a high speed buffer to accomplish that. The finish is very dull at the moment.
Why Cadillac didn't just use chrome instead as it's much more shiner is beyond me.

Hey everyone, if theres one thing that erks me or just makes the 64 feel a tad cheaper inside are the vinyl pull straps.
Can you install a chrome metal one from a 63 and install it in a 64?
I really want to do this for my 64. I like the feeling of grabbing onto a solid piece of metal to close the door rather than the vinyl strap that can bend or even snap off over time. Plus the gleaming shine of chrome looks much better.
If so does anybody here have some for…

I found a diagram that illustrates the main factor in determining a spark plug heat range that I was trying to describe to you during the chapter get together.
Here it is:
The main factor is the length of the ceramic insulator from the middle of the spark plug to the tip (where the spark happens)
The insulator…

Good Morning all!
I took the 64 into the shop to have some adjustments completed and in the process decided to have the lower ball joints replaced as was recommended the last time I had it in. I ordered the parts and came into the shop. They quoted me nearly $500 to replace those lower ball joints requiring nearly 4hrs of labor. Now this is a reputable shop and they know me by name here and they will continue to get my business. I am just questioning what on earth is…
