While we have our main logo with the 63 & 64 front ends, we also have our alternate wreath logo that came about last year when we were designing something for the chest of our club shirts.  This past weekend I revised it to give it a gold ring and and gold wreath using the same colors in the CLC logo and have to say I'm very pleased with it.

I've loaded these logo's separately to the website and have posted them below. You will definitely see these more in the future:

Keep in mind that if we are talking about embroidering on a shirt, and say we are doing a black shirt all of the inside-the-circle background would be black regardless of what color(s) I fill in the inner circle.  Now we are screen printing on a shirt like the t shirts we could have them screen print the inside a particular color instead of as a transparency as we did on first/current batch of shirts (see inserted picture at bottom).  I am thinking a screen printed shirt with the outer gold circle with color filled inside will make it more distinct regardless..but not sure until I see it on a shirt.

I think what has been confusing is we are talking about all types of uses of the logo and I've tried to respond in 5 minute snippets from work throughout the day.

- If you are talking about the header up top 1) we have the CLC log and 2) it needs to blend in with the back blackground but not be too dark.

- If we are talking about the club shirts that breaks down into a lot of discussion topics.

--> First, I agree the CLC or Cadillac LaSalle Club should be mentioned somewhere, but the chest log is not the only option as we have our main "official" logo on the back of the shirt that is much larger and perhaps a better place to add it...but I also want to retain the website address.

--> Second, if you are screen printing like we did with last year's shirt we can trasfer quite a bit of detail...but probably want to be consistent with what we would use on jackets, polo shirts etc.

---> third jackets and polo shirts, with embroidery is a very different animal and have to keep it simple are you end up with something unrecognizeable.  When we came up with the first shirt designs it was something that was attemped at least once without success, and we had to come back and have weeks of discussion.  I'm hoping when I go back to PKD I can basically explain what we  are after and they can help us come up with the best design.

ps..I did try to put create a black circle area around the crest only, but could not get it to be concentric with outer gold ring due to size and shape of the crest. Here was the best I could come up with:

Don,

I changed the center section around the wreath and crest to black and think it looks pretty cool. I kinda think it would make the overall header too dark though but would look good on a different background.

Here it is: Shirt Front Hi Res - Master - wider border-goldoutline with black border master-blackcenter

For shirts it has to be very clear and distinct especially if we do emroidery on next batch of shirts. With that said a few things:

- it might make more sense to instead include a reference to the CLC on the main club logo on the back of the shirt. This is our custom logo and not intended to emulate the CLC logo.

- If and when I've been asked about our club when wearing our shirt I use it as an opportunity to brag about the best national car club in our country

- another point being when I've told some people we are part of the National Cadillac LaSalle Club, I still get the question "what is that?"

I guess the point is that clarity can be defined in different ways. Is it better to have a simple easy to see and read logo that might lead to more questions ( again not a bad thing), or is clarity having the complete club name perhaps at the expense of having a more cluttered and hard to read logo. Also, again the point was to come up with something similar to the CLC Logo which means it all stays within the gold circle.

Jason,

As far as what is shown on the web site for visiting members & guests, it is clear that we are a CLC chapter, with the displayed header. It was the badge on the T-shirt that didn't explain what club we are a chapter of that initiated the question from outside our group. All I have is Paint to play with, I'll see if I can come up with something.

Thanks,

David

Morning Jason, just a thought here. I really like the circle chapter logo you've designed, it really looks good. But to non Cadillac people it leaves the question, 63/64 Cadillac Chapter, of what? Could "Cadillac LaSalle Club" be included on/in our chapter logo for clearer identification or is it against the national club rules to use that phrase? What are your thoughts?

One reason I mention this. Last summer I wore our logo t-shirt on a group motorcycle ride. One of the bike club members asked "Cadillac chapter of what" ? Only After I explained, did he make the connection.

Thanks for all you have done to put this group together, I appreciate all your effort.

David

Don, You have the logo I uploaded. Please down load and give it a shot.  We can and do use multiple versions for different uses. I filled in the outside of the ring witih black to blend in with the header. It's an easy (maybe lazy) trick to get the header and its elements blended in. Update it and upload here or send via email You probably want to pull up the higher res (1700 x 1700) I uploaded in the photo album. The main thing I was trying to do right down was to get something to match the CLC Logo that Tim Coy had sent me a week or so ago. Whatever we end up witih we need to also make sure it blends nicely with their logo. There's ash the center red section and I think you are saying to make a center black section for ours which could be very cool looking.

Loud air moving sound within carb with cleaner removed

Posted by Dave Fehrle on March 23, 2024 at 3:23pm 8 Comments

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks

'63 Eldorado trumpet horn + 2 standard horns restoration

My son, unbeknownst to me, had all three of the horns on our 1963 Eldorado completely restored. We had recently added the Eldorado trumpet horn to the two standard horns and the sound was not very good... we had heard good ones so we knew something was not right... but there was not much we could do to get better sound from the 3 horns.

There is a restoration service called The Horn Works who my son…
