OK..Here is a trivia question I have meant to ask over the years but never got back to it. The question is:
What option was a Dealer Installed Only Option in 1963, but became a Factory Option in 1964?
I know of one example... there may be more.

twilight sentinel?
Rear window de-froster?
We had some great guesses but Robert Shannon gets the Cigar as Rear Window Defogger (Defroster) is correct. See the Dealer Data Book scans below, not to mention Robert's Cigar!
Running through the other guesses:
AM-FM Radio --> Factory Option both years
RH Mirror --> Dealer Option both years
Twilght Sentinel --> Not available in 1963, Factory Option in 1964 (new for 1964)
seat belts --> Factory Option both years, with front seat belts becoming standard equipment part way thru 1964 model year.
Rear Window Defogger ==> Listed Dealer Option in 1963, but available as a Factory Option in 1964.
And for Robert.... Have a Cigar!!!!
Congrats Robert.
Jason, question: does the Sedan not have a speaker on the right side of the package shelf like the Coupe?
Kurt, The rear speaker was mount on the right side of the package tray for cars that had the spare mounted on the shelf, which included the the Coupes in 1963, and Coupes and 4 window sedans for 1964, but in the center on cars with the spare mounted on the trunk floor pan which included the 6 window sedans, and Fleetwood 60 Special. The picture for the 63 defogger looks to be a 6 window Sedan de Ville. I think you are asking since if the speaker was always on the right, the far right side vent would have been in the same general location.
As a followup question and really getting into the nitty-gritty is:
What is the main different between the 63 dealer installed and 64 factory installed defoggers? Well, as seen in the picture, the 63 dealer installed has 2 outlet ducts, whereas the 64 only has the one on the driver side.
Jason ,my 63 6339 spare tire mounts on the floor on right side , speaker in the middle of shelf ; is that not correct?
Robert, That is correct. ... I should have included that note. For 1963, only the Coupes had the spare on the shelf. In 1964, the 4 window sedans also had the spare on the shelf. I will add that o my note above. The bottom line is for cars with the spare on the floor, speaker was in the center.. at least on the cars I have seen.

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Who rebuilds original AC accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year , There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A What is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
