A "Fix-It" for Split Windshield Washer Reservoirs that Seems to Hold!

I had seen JB Weld Plastic Bonder at the local Lowe’s store and read the reviews on Amazon, etc. and thought I would try it on 64 reservoir I just pulled off the last parts car which had a nice long 4 “ or so split at the seem. I made sure the jug was dry and clean and put a good amount down the seam, extended a bit past where the split started and ended. I was intrigued that it said it would cure tan and thought a light tan might actual blend in well with the aged ‘white” plastic which yellows a bit with age.

I let the glue cure for 2 or 3 days, set outside propped up with water almost to the top and let it set for about 2 weeks. It never leaked a drop!  If you look at the picture, it blends in pretty good with the color of the jug. I could have done some sanding and smoothing but since it faces in toward the firewall it is not going to be that readily seen ... not to mention it held water lie a boss!

SO... if you still have your reservoir jug and just have a split down the seam you might try JB Weld Plastic Bonder. See last picture below.

Click Here to see it at Amazon.com but they have it at my Lowe’s and Home Depot stores.

This reservoir jug is on the way to a customer in Australia that had been in my Wait List for some time.

If you try the JB Weld Plastic Bonder on your own jug, I would love to get some feedback. I feel confident enough to include this in our next Newsletter as a Tech Tip.

I thought I had posted a link to this in the Help Page when I posted it May 2 but had not... so it is there now. If anyone else has had experience with JB Weld Plastic Bonder or similar adhesives, chime in!

While checking my Carter carb with engine running, I took the air cleaner off and there was a very loud hissing sound of air. I placed a piece of paper over the carb and it didn’t move up or down, is this normal?

Vintage Air AC

Posted by Chase on March 21, 2024 at 5:55am 0 Comments

Hey everyone, has anybody done a Vintage Air AC/Heat setup in their car? I want to bypass the old vacuum setup and go with a Vintage Air Gen 2 model. Before I get started, does anyone have any experience with this? (Which model to go with, do’s and dont’s, etc.) It looks pretty involved. Any and all info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

accumulator dryer

Who rebuilds original AC  accumulator dryers for 1964 Cadillac? I have been on Classic auto air in Tampa FL wait list for over a year ,  There is one on Old air products web site that looks very similar to the original # 21-4214A but states it fits 1962 Gm cars, The one recommended for a 1964 Cadillac is half the length 21-4215A    What  is everyone using ? I would prefer to be as original as possible. Thanks
