i read a long thread on the sputtering when turned off her back from a few years ago,,, and today for the first time, mine did it 63 CDV.. i drove it once to day for a about 10 miles and had no issue,, yesterday,, same,, and couple days prior,, same. it is hot as blazes here in MT today, 20 degrees cooler last few days,, anyway, i was just running the engine to check oil and some other things, and when i went to shut it off, it kept on,
now, in that prior thread,, i saw testing compression,, How is that done and with what tools..
flushing the system engine/system. how is that done, and what tools?
i saw turning the distributor to set points,,timing, etc,, should i watch a you tube video on the basics of this stuff,, on an older car, so that i dont bog up a lot of bandwidth w basic questions..and then turn to here for cadillac specifics..if i can see it done, and have some instructions, i can do lots of things, but i have to know why and see it done..
so what suggestion would you offer 1,, the sputtering,,
secondly,,learning sources,,
basic engine history i should note, the engine rebuilt at i think 100k,, actual miles 143,, transmission not long after that, so it has had work done to the engine in prior owner, i have the receipt for both and both were in the thousands of dollars back in 90s, assuming it was pretty complete due time value of money, and also, prior owner mentioned some hard rings or seats??? for fuel accommodation, so over about 10-12 years,, 40k miles have been put on since.
sorry for the multiple questions,,, i just need to know where to get basic visual nfo,, and i can learn from there...but short of you tube, are there other places

Get the timing light and check the timing. Follow the shop manual.

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
