funny, i posted from my phone, but it dint show up so going to try again,
Got home with 63 back to MS,, cranked right up, no problems, despite the humidity change from MT to MS and the huge drop in elevation 6000 to 300. Took brother for a ride, came home to drop him off. got out, came back about 10 min later,, the dread ku clunk,, ku clunk, same heavy sound it made when i had the siphoning problem a while back, but, it has nt been on a down hill pitch,, i was p.o. ed, it started so strongly, then, condolent even turn over.. well, i did a few other things, came back and hit it,, started right up,, WTH!!!! i decided to leave it parked for now, thankully i still have my starter the i ordered for the siphon thing,, should i just go ahead an replace it,,?? if so,, anything to be aware of or is it a unbolt and put back and rebolt operation.>>
secondly,, also ordered oil pump parts and gasket for the leak there. any way to tell if parts in place are damaged? other than pulling off the 3 to 4 screw cap, are there any other pitfalls to be aware of in this gasket/part repair, or isi t just a unscrew, replace gasket , screw back on the cap?
3rdly,, PS pump coming in too this week. as well as the two hoses, one is leaking for sure,, so going to replace both while at it. so,, any pitfalls here? i remember reading somewhere about the pulley and being difficult to remove?? somethien to that effect , should i send o picture of the pulley configuration to see what may arise.. do i need a pulley puller or any special tool for this.
Sincerely
Kim

Clovis, back a month or so ago, i had the car parked on a steep downhill, engine down, and gas started running in to the engine and out the carburetor,, initially, i thought he starter was broken because it sounded like the starter was dead and wouldnt turn over, so, i posted my problem, everyone thought it was starter, and i mentioned the downhill park thing and Kevin said he remembered it happening to another car and had me check the plugs,, plugs were covered in gas. and engine was full of gas, i had to pull all the plugs, drain the oil and the gas in the engine, refill, air out the engine from fumes,, apparently, the way i understood it, was the fuel in the engine wouldnt let the starter turn over due to the fluids in there. so , it seemed like a starter problem and acted like one, but it was the gas in the engine,, i was just saying that the started sounded today, as it did when the gas problem was there, and we all assumed it was the starter as it had the heavy clunking sound, i know thats not terminology you are used to but its the only thing i can relate it to
Hey Kim, remember back when this all happened and I said, just fit the new starter anyway. hmmmm, do ya. :-)
Clovis, the issue was combination of a full tank of fuel, bad down hill facing cockeyed angle...... I'd stumbled across this once.. way back maybe 20 years ago with the same problem. Kim had fuel running out the top of the carb. It was trying to hydraulic the engine.
It really was a bizarre set of circumstances...... But Uncle Kev was on it.
Kim, fit the new starter and then get ya local sparkie to suss out the old one, as it could be kept as a spare.
yep, i remember, glad i kept it
Do not use a pulley puller, or you will likely damage a pulley that is not being reproduced. Remove the nut on the pulley shaft and give the end a good whack with a heavy hammer. I use an air hammer and the pulley comes right off.
The oil pump end plate gasket change is straight forward remove 4 bolts and change the gasket. The gears will fall out, so be mindful of that.
YOU MUST REFILL THE OIL PUMP WITH OIL after you reinstall the endcap. Remove the oil filter end and fill through there.

Could someone post front and back photos of the 1963 right-hand kick panel with A/C?
My car didn’t come with the original kick panels, so it's a bit of a mystery to me how I should cut the backing board and carpet to fit around the A/C.
Many thanks,
-Samu

Hey guys,
I have installed the same Edelbrock carb and have done everything the same as Jason’s carb and intake project. In the spring and summer months the car starts, runs and idles great! In the fall and winter months on a cold start, the car starts awful and wants to die until it warms up. I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it warms up or it will idle just terrible and try to die. Once it’s warm, it runs fantastic! Whats going on here? I was thinking of removing the…
