Can anyone tell me if there is a a better shock that can be used for my 1964 Conv. Cadillac. I would like a better performance shock than stock. Can you tell me the travel length?

I know they sell shocks with springs around them and possibly the springs only to install around the shocks to give the shock more support but that would be for the rear shocks

I had those on my car at one time in the past and they worked well

Not sure about travel length myself

I do know that Jason is using a gas shock made by Gabriel in his 64 as best I can recall which I think is an upgrade to the stock original shocks

I can only comment on one aftermarket shock, the Gabriel gas cushioned shocks, so I really have zero comparison to anything else. I assumed way back since it seemed to be the recommended shock that it would give a ride similar to original gas cushioned shocks, but I wasn't born until Dec 1964 so I was too young to even know what "stock" performance was like. Here is the dealer data book info n the original shock:

Of course on the many parts cars I have brought in I have seen all sorts of brands - Monroes, AC Delco, Gabriels, and the ones that always bring a smile to my face... the DELCO PLEASURIZER!

And, of course tired worn coil springs vs new regular coil springs, vs new heavy duty coil springs (what I run) will make a lot of difference in terms of smoothness and stiffness of ride and the ability to support weight (i.e. rear passengers and dead bodies in the trunk).

Wow! The Delco marketing team must have been wearing their nipple shields when they came up with that name. LOL! Thanks Jason, always like the opportunity to throw the "shields" into a conversation.

Yes, the sexual innuendo was non-stop with these Cadillac & Delco guys!  I could just imagine a sexy voice advertising those "pleasurizers" back in the day!

Those were the days.

Print ads were probably something like this...

Love it ! ———And she has such a big smile !

OH GOD THEY HAVE RETURNED and after a Pleasure Shock

The sexual tension mounts —-LOL ! !

You perverts !!

While working on my trunk lock on 64 Cadillac, I mistakenly closed the locking mechanism while the trunk was open.  Is there an easy way to manually release the lock back to the open position?

Fuel Pump Failure

I'm located in Melbourne, Australia and my 64 sedan de ville is stuck in the garage due to failed mechanical fuel pump. The first after market mechanical fuel pump lasted a few years before it failed & left me stranded 5 hours from home. A hire car and tow got us home. On inspection, I noticed a valve not seated within the housing. I was optimistic, pressed it into place and assumed the pump was good to go. But alas, no. From what I can now determine, the diaphragm pushrod…
